09.00 Animation workshop; Pixilation (Stanterrier)
09.00 Animation workshop (Film school Zlin)
Possibility to try classic animation methods (mainly animated on an animation table, pixilation, animating puppets, …). Animation students of Film School Zlín will provide the workshop, and they will willingly help all participants orient themselves mainly in the newest technical possibilities. The workshop will take place in the Hermína Týrlová Studio in Film School Zlín, and in Zlín Dog’s Stanterrier (Terrier Tent).
09.00 Directing workshop (Film school Zlin)
For creators of competitive films, Zlín Dog has prepared a competitive directing workshop from Wednesday to Saturday. Students will have the opportunity to try working in an international team and to struggle with precisely given criteria in their work. They will realize the resulting 90 – second film without sound on common themes under the following conditions: common environment of one scene > same possibilities > given casting > 90 minutes for realization > 90 minutes for post – production. The results of the workshop will be screened, and the winners will be awarded at the Zlín Dog Gala Evening.
13.30 Gerrit van Dijk: Paint-on-glass animation (Masters of Rock Cafe)
Famous personality from Dutch film, Gerrit Van Dijk, who will provide viewers with a look at his more than long-lasting, “life – energizing” work of animation techniques and direction of short films. Proof of his rich creation is the collection he released in 2004 that includes a retrospective of animated shorts since 1971 to the date of publishing. Visitors will have the opportunity to create an animation with Gerrit on large glass, which will develop over the entire workshop before finally ending with its completion.
15.30 Lawrence Guterman: Problems with authorship in Hollywood production system (Masters of Rock Cafe)
Director who began his career in DreamWorks Animation as a colleague of Steven Spielberg. He has directed for example the popular animated movie Ant Z (dubbing by Woody Allen, Sharon Stone and Christopher Walken) and also Dogs & Cats. He has also worked with the famous companies Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Lawrence will point out the problems with authorship in the unforgiving American production system, where the producer has the final say, and not the author or director.

13.30 Varhan Orchestrovi? Bauer: Film music (Masters of Rock Cafe)
He successfully graduated the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague studying composition (professor Antonín Bílý) and conducting (professor Hynek Farka?). While studying, he founded and conducted his first experimental symphony orchestra Worchester Scandal (60 members). He therefore realized his own composition, which involved searching for a synthesis of styles, genres, colors and moods of not only symphonic music, but also jazz, funk and rap. Most recently for example, he composed music for Miloš Forman’ s film Goya’s Ghosts, and prior to that, for the films Eliška má ráda divo?inu Eliška Loves the Wild Side and ?eský sen (Czech Dream).
15.30 Andy Schmidt: The Cars (Masters of Rock Cafe)
You may journey with Andy Schmidt to the depths of the soul of animated cars. The long-time collaborator with America’s Pixar Animation Studios and recognized expert in computer animation will bring visitors closer to the origin of the freshest new hit from Pixar – the movie Cars. He also concerned in other famous films from this renowned studio – Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life and Toy Story, all of which have garnished a number of international awards. You may never get closer to your beloved animated characters!
16.00 Animation box for everyone (Stanterrier)
Do you want to be animators, and you still have a long way to film production? Do you want to create your own animation technique at home in your room? Then come and be inspired by the simple technique, which will be presented to you by Denizcan Yuzgul, a student at Film School Zlín.
QQ Studio:Plasticine character
Marta Ka?orová will explain to visitors the specifics of creative solutions of a plasticine, three-dimensional puppet and the bases of its animation, and also what the advantages and disadvantages are of animating with plasticine as opposed to a classic puppet. Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to create their own puppet.

11.30 Film dubbing; Techniques, tricks, realization – dubbing practice for participants (Masters of Rock Cafe)
The dubbing workshop should provide partakers with the opportunity to try and see how difficult dubbing really is, and how dubbing is realized. A beloved and locally well-known film will be used as dubbing material. Complete dubbing technology and of course technical instruction will be provided for the workshop.
13.00 Brian Savelson: Confrontation of Film and Theatrical Directing (Masters of Rock Cafe)
Brian Savelson has produced theatrical presentations for Broadway with stars such as Meryl Streep and Natalie Portman. He is also an animated film creator, as well as a director of both film and theater. It is the confrontation of two directing techniques that visitors to his workshop will be able to try – to act under the leadership of a theatrical director or to try their hand at directing acting performances for both theater and for film, right with video camera in hand.
14.00 LARP, Improvisation in Film and Acting (Stanterrier)
The workshop will introduce the method of entitled LARP (Live – action role – play). It is a kind of game combining acting improvisation, participation theater and social games. The actors aren’ t acting for the viewer but rather for themselves and for the other actors. Every participant will take on a certain role, and through common improvisation, the actors will try to create an interesting story, where their character fulfills his / her goals while contributing to the development of a dramatic story.
17.00 Milan Kruml: Multimedia trends (Masters of Rock Cafe)
Milan Kruml will discuss current trends in printed, electronic and online media, and their impacts on contents. He’ll also cover the present and near future of television broadcasting – abroad and in the Czech Republic.

11.00 Kufrik Brothers: Slovakia videoart (Masters of Rock Cafe)
One of the most interesting Slovak formations in the area of video art. They engage in visual design, VJ-ing (club visual projections), digital photography, graphics and free video creation. As visualization authors, they work with many leading Slovak (ex. Longital) and international (ex. Zion Train) musicians. They will present and offer attendees to actively participate in their procedures for creating live video performances by a combination of computer graphics and found footage (image material scanned in real time by a video camera). Kufrik Brothers will also create an evening concert with visuals.
14.00 Nico Stumpo: Multimedia Projects (Masters of Rock Cafe)
When he was a young Italian living in Holland, Nico Stumpo ended his professional path as a skateboarder. He began working in art, especially in graphics and Web design. He’s worked in a number of important advertising agencies around the world as an artistic and creative director. As time marched on, he became one of the world’ s most recognized graphic artists for his creativity and originality. He’s worked for such giants as MTV, the software companies Electronic Arts and Sony PS2, Nike, the automobile manufacturer Lexus, Heineken, Vodafone, Nokia and others.
14.00 Marian Palla: Text of the concept and concept of the text (Stanterrier)
Performer, author, painter, author of installations and happenings, musician and publicist. Winner of the first Czech national finale Slam Poetry, participant in international exhibitions of action recitation. Senior Lecturer at Brno’ s FAVU (Faculty of Fine Arts). He will familiarize participants with conceptually oriented procedures for creating texts, with the concept of the text as an aim and as starting point, and also with methods of his performance presentation.
16.00 Ond?ej Skála: Conceptual approach to music (Masters of Rock Cafe)
Musician, creator, writer, performer. He will present the creation of a sound performance founded on a combination of radical digital rhythms, live instruments, beat box and author texts, which together form a complex sound current, enabling a strong presentation with maximum implementation. Skala will also perform in an evening concert in his project “Ježíš táhne na Berlín” (Jesus is going to Berlin).
